#1 Dry Hair Causing Culprit is……

Tap water.  Yes, that simple.  Tap water.  You know, the water you bathe in.  It comes streaming innocently out of your shower head and if you are one of a HIGH percentage of people, your water is “hard”.

This definition comes from Hardwater.org:
Water described as “hard” is high in dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium. Hard water is not a health risk, but a nuisance because of mineral buildup on fixtures and poor soap and/or detergent performance.
Let me translate this in hair speak-

Your hair, especially but not limited to long, will absorb these add-ins and become mucky & dull .  It will feel like hay, take FOREVER to dry & when wet, often feel “waxy”.  You may think you need to cut off A LOT, but this is not always the case.  Your stylist, if knowledgeable with this situation, can remove the build up by using a clarifying treatment.  Beware of stylists who right away tell you that 1 foot needs to be chopped. You might just need help in your “water department”.
If you have a heavy build up, it may take 2 or 3 treatments.   Beware- These treatments can affect your artificial hair color.  Ask your stylist about this.  At home you can try using a clarifying shampoo such as Bumble & bumble Sunday Shampoo.
If you are colored blonde, you will notice your hair looks bright when you leave the salon and then gets dull & rusty within a few weeks.    Reds tend to “brown out”.  Brunettes are the most difficult to detect to the eye. Usually easier felt than seen and take FOREVER to blow dry!
Okay, now your EASY solution- Attach a filter to your existing shower head. Yes, you can still have the same water pressure and keep your rainhead shower fixture while dramatically increasing the health of your hair (& skin)!

I bought mine at Lowe’s for approximately $20.  ONLY $20!!

They recommend changing the cartridge inside the filter every 6 months, I recommend every 3-4 months.
Here are the easy steps I recommend.

  1. Call your water company and ask if your home receives “hard water”. (Probably does)
  2. Buy shower filter.  Order online here!
  3. Install shower filter yourself or hire a hot plummer to install for you (Look what came up when I searched “hot plummer” click here. Hilarious!
  4. Call your stylist and set up an appointment to “clarify” the “hard water build-up” from your hair.

Enjoy NOTICEABLY healthier hair.

& now for the breakdown-

Eeek. Here is the breakdown...

BTW- Very awesome customer service!  @ p!ay hair lounge we will have Sprite Showers brochures on hand and are recommending all of our clients purchase one to help increase the overall health & appearance of their hair, skin & apparently lungs too.  Wow!  New year, new knowledge!
