Brig’s Budget Bang with singer/songwriter Nina Storey

Nina & I @ start of our shopping excursion

Meet Nina Story..

I heard Nina’s music before I met her. I was blown away by her talent. I wanted to be a singer when I was a young girl, but my talents do not lie in that area. We had an instant admiration for each other from the second we met. I became her stylist & friend last summer & we have continued to have fun together.

Recently inspired by a HUGE show at Hotel Cafe, Nina came to me to help her with her image for the evening. I suggested she steer clear of all black and choose something a bit brighter & happier since her album to soon be released is called Welcome to Happy.

We met at the Americana Glendale and attacked H&M and Forever 21. Nina had a conservative budget of $100 for the head to toe look. I like to call that reality, right? I love a shopping budget challenge. I had some ideas in mind, but still made sure that Nina knew if something caught her eye, she should try it on.

Possibilities- Pink dress with white trim , Star Wars underwear (We like to have fun!)

Hilarious attempts- Kid’s apron, Santa’s helper dress, peachy ruffle #

Hair- p!ay hair lounge- Nina took my advice to chop off 5 inches of dead ends to freshen up her curls. Shhhh….Don’t tell anyone, but her hair color is slightly enhanced” by me every 4 weeks. Hair style- Set with an Enzo Milano iron & Bumble & bumble Spray de Mode

By the end of our adventure she must have tried on 50 items in 2.5 hours, but success was reached in the form of a brilliant blue romper!

Necklace- Handmade by me using safety pins & wooden beads
Blue romper- Forever 21- $14.50
Pink lace bra- Forever 21- $7.99
Belt- Borrowed (American Apparel)
White fishnet tights- $6 Hot Topic
Shoes- Target $24.99
Gold Spray paint for shoes- Lowes $3.99

Total look- $57.47

My clientele is made up of REAL women.  Even the star that she is, Nina couldn’t be more REAL.  It is truly a pleasure to have the opportunity to style her for her shows around the country!

My favorite Nina Storey song-

Next Hotel Cafe show- march 31st- 9p.m…. I will be there for sure!
