Mom & Daughter Makeover!
I’ve known Kayla for about 30 years. Kayla writes a very cool blog called “Kayla’s Basement”. Recently I got the chance to makeover her & her daughter Kelsey at my salon, p!ay hair lounge.
I was surprised when 12 year old Kelsey told me she was open to cutting off her long locks & donating over 10″ to Locks of Love
She was so brave & excited as I chopped off her ponytails. I wish my mom would have taken me to a cool salon when I was 12 years old. Instead I went through a super awkward hair phase for my preteen years.
AFTER!
Kayla watched and told Kelsey how great her short hair was. Not that Kelsey needed affirmation, she kept telling me she loved it while I was cutting. I was originally planning on adding some blonde slices to Kelsey’s hair, however during the cut she told me her favorite color was orange & that pretty much led me to “Let’s add orange” much to Kelsey’s thrill.
So there you have it- 1 12 year old+ 10 inches of hair & a bag, add orange and wa la! You have a satisfied Kelsey!

Kayla needed some sexy. Being a mother of 3, including home-schooling, doesn’t leave her time to focus on herself. I had no doubt in my mind she needed to be lighter, brighter & sexier! She was also in need of a serious haircut from the hair-b-que inflicted by her overly hot flat iron. She was on board to have healthier shorter hair. A bold bang gave her a strong look for her Project Runway audition.
