1. Always wet hair using tap water or a spray bottle prior to getting into a non salt water pool or jacuzzi. (The water will add a bit of a cushion between your hair and the chemical filled water aiding in the removal process later)

2. Shampoo hair using a clarifying shampoo such as Bumble & bumble’s Sunday Shampoo after swimming.

3. Treat your hair to extra moisture using a masque like Bb.’s Quenching Masque following Sunday Shampoo.  After a day in the ocean, a masque is the perfect fix for dry locks.

4. Wear a hat to protect hair color & scalp from sun exposure.

5. Always visit your stylist for highlights and avoid brassy results from do it yourself products like Sun-In.

Bb. Sunday Shampoo & Wear and Care Quenching Masque

About my model & friend Jessica Krewson of Design Krew:

First off, she’s awesome! She is an extremely talented graphic designer.

She maintains the health of her hair using Bb. Wear & Care Quenching Shampoo, Conditioner & Complex

I trim her hair every 10 weeks to remove any split ends.  Jessica air drys her hair most summer days.  She uses her Flatter Me Marilyn Brush religiously to detangle.  After discovering a hard water build up on her hair after she relocated to an urban area, I recommended a shower head filter & it solved the rusty mineral build up on the lower half of her hair.  You can find these filters at Lowe’s.

My hairstyle was created using a 1″ Enzo Milano clipless iron.  These are my favorite and max out at 325 degrees.  Far under the burn temperature for hair (392+) I always spray each section with Bb. Spray de Mode for a flexible hold and heat protection.

5:30-8p.m. - I brig out her hair.  It was a lot of hair!

8-9:15p.m.- Laci Hill rocks out the make-up doing a sweet cat eye on Riley & final hair, then wardrobe take place.   Riley’s hair was curled using a 25mm Enzo Milano Conico Clipless Iron and Bb. Spray de Mode..

BRIG’S EYE VIEW- Episode #1

$7.99 FIND- BEFORE getting Brig'd Out

I admit the excitement I feel when I spot a clearance item that I love. This Forever 21 denim jacket had the beloved red marker x-ing out the original $27.90 with the new price of $7.99. SCORE! I snatched it up and here is what happened next:

Tape off areas you do not wish to lighten.  I use duct tape for its thickness and willingness to stick to any fabric.  Next use a paint brush and Splashless Clorox Bleach and thoroughly saturate/wet the area you want to bleach.  I used a plastic cutting board to prevent it from bleeding onto the back of the jacket.

After 30 minutes...

After 45 minutes

Continue saturating the areas to maintain wetness.  If the bleach dries out it stops lifting.

Once you have it lifted, wash it in warm water and squeeze out excess water.  (I also dipped both sleeves in a small bowl of bleach to tip them.)

Follow directions on RIT Dye.

I am thrilled with the finished jacket.  I must thank my super man, Todd for helping me with this project.  I also must give huge thanks to Amanda, p!ay stylist, for rocking the jacket while leaning against a mini van after a LONG LONG week of hair.

**Bonus tip… Grab another light colored boring item out of your closet & give it a new life…. Drop it into your RIT Dye bath….

Talking & walking. How important can I try & look?!! Dress AFTER Red dye bath!

Since the dress was made of lace and silk, both fabrics reacted differently to the red dye creating a very cool effect.  It was a surprise to me and I love it!   (The burgundy jacket is in a “how to Brig” blog post a few below this one….)
