WHOA!!

I’m thrilled to be a part of anyone’s dramatic hair transformation.  These 3 makeovers happened during our usual p!ay days & we felt the need to invite these gorgeous everyday women for a  REAL pro photo shoot to capture their new hair. Taylor is a blogger – toallmyfans.com -  Her point of view is fresh and easy to read full of unique ideas, you will want to try.  Jessi is a incredible artist.  Julie is a art teacher and french horn aficionado.

We (Aly, Allison, Celeste & I all from p!ay hair lounge) gathered them on a Saturday night at my home, that also doubles as a photo hot spot & enlisted the skills of photographer Todd Jones (coincidentally my boyfriend) to capture the supercharged confidence of these women. We glamorized them with hair styles, make-up & wardrobe while blaring loud tunes (sorry neighbors) courtesy of the killer band Fun.   Enjoy, we definitely did!  & ask yourself- Is it time for a personal reinvention?????

I’ve known Kayla for about 30 years.  Kayla writes a very cool blog called “Kayla’s Basement”. Recently I got the chance to makeover her & her daughter Kelsey at my salon, p!ay hair lounge.

I was surprised when 12 year old Kelsey told me she was open to cutting off her long locks & donating over 10″ to Locks of Love

She was so brave & excited as I chopped off her ponytails.  I wish my mom would have taken me to a cool salon when I was 12 years old.  Instead I went through a super awkward hair phase for my preteen years.

AFTER!

Kayla watched and told Kelsey how great her short hair was.  Not that Kelsey needed affirmation, she kept telling me she loved it while I was cutting.  I was originally planning on adding some blonde slices to Kelsey’s hair, however during the cut she told me her favorite color was orange & that pretty much led me to “Let’s add orange” much to Kelsey’s thrill.

So there you have it- 1 12 year old+ 10 inches of hair & a bag, add orange and wa la! You have a satisfied Kelsey!

Kayla needed some sexy.  Being a mother of 3, including home-schooling, doesn’t leave her time to focus on herself.  I had no doubt in my mind she needed to be lighter, brighter & sexier!  She was also in need of a serious haircut from the hair-b-que inflicted by her overly hot flat iron.   She was on board to have healthier shorter hair.  A bold bang gave her a strong look for her Project Runway audition.

Recently, myself and the incredibly driven stylists from p!ay hair lounge, gathered together for a shoot.  We transformed five clients into models for the day.   Hair cuts & color were accomplished in the days before.  I snapped the shots, after Sam, Jena, Aly & Allison created strong hair + make-up looks on each model.  Jessica helped with odds & ends while Todd (my boyfriend) filmed us in action.  It was an amazing day! I challenged each stylist on set, to be sure I was capturing their best work.  Take a look!

Towards the end of the shoot, Jena & Allison created second looks on Justine & Kaitlin:

Here’s Dana’s makeover story-

Dana was ready for some changes with her look but wanted to set our creativity free trusting that our vision would fit her lifestyle. She had been dark auburn before, but never a lighter red until now.  Dana’s thick hair was boring and lifeless.  Extreme layers were added as many inches were chopped off!

As Dana’s makeover progressed, her personality popped up and was sweetly a combination of “tomboy meets the girl next door”.  She really brightened up before our eyes and we were so excited to shoot her during that moment!  We knew it was going to be great, we just didn’t realize how HUGE of a change it was going to be when we started!

The more we played with Dana’s hair on set, the better it got… She loved it!

And now lets get even HOTTER! Here is Justine’s Story….

Allison has known Justine for over 7 years and recently noticed she had a strong resemblance to singer Florence Welch of “Florence & the Machine” but with blonde hair.  After seeing a shot of Florence in Vogue Magazine, she text Justine the inspirational picture with a bit of convincing.  A couple days later Justine’s hair was in Allison’s hands and an incredible makeover ensued.

Allison removed layers of existing color, before applying the final double super copper formula.  Combined with a strong layered cut to alleviate self inflicted heat torture from hot  tools, the Florence inspired redhead emerged from Justine.

Hesitant at first, stating the need for a couple days to “marinate” over her shocking transformation, Justine was already warming up to it quickly during the photo shoot.
