Recently Blake’s hair has been reported most wanted by masses of women everywhere. I feel it is my professional duty to bring you the “How to” so you can stop drooling and start achieving your own style inspired by hers. Don’t be discouraged if you have shorter hair, you can still snag the perfectly imperfect waves ala Ms.Lively.
Oh..and let me remind you that Blake has a hairstylist at her beckon call. I’m sorry Blake, but I doubt you would know where to start if given the chance. Give this style a few tries, it takes a bit of practice…
Here is what you need:
1 head of clean dry hair
1-1.5” curling iron. My favs are: Enzo Milano Conico & WAM Ceramic Iron
A flexible heat protectant hair spray such as Bumble & bumble’s spray de mode
30 minutes of patience (Moms: that means child free)
-Start at the top of your head.
-Taking 1-2” square sections, spray with hairspray & wrap tightly around iron. Wait about 10 seconds and slide the curl, intact, off iron and pin still wound tightly with a single prong clip.
-Proceed around the entire top section of your hair before you move to the next section below.
**The secret is the pin the curls while they are still hot. When cooling while still wound into a curl, they will hold their shape throughout a party evening.
-Give your curls 10 minutes to set once you complete your entire head and then release the clips and shake out your hair.
**If you prefer waves, brush your hair once through with a paddle brush.
-Spray one more time to set the style and enjoy!
-Test this style a few days before your date to be sure you have the technique down.
**If the curls come out tighter that you want, take larger sections.
**If you prefer the curl or waves start further away from your scalp, start your top section of hair 3” down with the iron to create a drag on top.
If you think your hair looks great when you are finished, just wait until Day 2. The original shape will relax during sleep, but the morning after hair can be loosely pulled back for an effortless day look.
Have fun with your curling iron, just remember…
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS spray each small section of hair with a heat protectant spray otherwise you are in for a hair-b-que!
