Dear Brig,
I’m really bland when it comes to hair and one of the most increasing problems I have is maintanence of bangs. I can’t ever find the right style or shape that best fits my face and the rest of my hair and they always grow out awkwardly. Right now they’ve taken on a life of their own but I don’t have a job at the current moment in time so I can’t go in to have them trimmed. I was wondering if maybe you had any do-it-yourself methods to trimming or styling/shaping bangs? I usually just had a friend do it but the style and grow out just isn’t working I think. -Victoria
Hi Victoria,
I think if we asked 100 women if they have ever been frustrated with their bangs, if and when they have had them, we would get 100% yes as the answer. If you plan on taking scissors to your own bangs, always do it on dry hair, slowly and in small sections. Although I never encourage this, sometimes we can’t help ourselves. As far as what type of style you should have? Find a stylist who has a strong opinion, after listening to your frustrations and needs. I always recommend bringing in pictures of bangs you like and don’t like. Check out the magazine Hairstyles Only at your local Borders Bookstore for ideas.
Here are some ?’s for you to think about:
Are bangs even the right choice for your hair?
Have you ever been satisfied with them?
Your bangs could possibly be too long, or even too short. They could be too thick, or not thick enough. Some bangs are better longer so they can be swept to the side. I understand your economic challenge. You should find a stylist who offers complimentary bang trims in between haircut appointments.
That is what we offer at p!ay hair lounge to be sure that our clients look their best in between visits.
You mention you are bland when it comes to hair… change that immediately! Have some fun. Hair is such a great strong accessory! -Good luck! Brig
