Let me start by making one thing clear…. just because I am a hairstylist does not mean I never have a bad hair day! I have them, I just created quick solutions to turn even the biggest case of bed head to my advantage. I have received a lot of inquiries lately regarding how I do my hair and what I use.
It is time I share my behind the scenes/at home secrets with you:
Here is my personal checklist of what I need at all times in my bathroom:
Bumble & bumble products : Gentle Shampoo, Super Rich Conditioner, Sunday Shampoo, Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner, Sprays- Classic, Does it All & Spray de Mode, Tonic Lotion, Defrizz, Grooming Creme, Styling Lotion, Curl Creme, Shine Spray, Surf Spray
Tools: TGR 4000i blow dryer & diffuser attachment (If you haven’t read My Blow Dryer, My Hero , DO!) , GHD flat iron, Large Monroe brush, rat tail comb, wide tooth comb, regular size comb
Misc: hair bands, clips, bobby pins
I am human just like you. My bathroom drawers used to be a huge mess making it impossible to create anything with my hair in the nick of time. I came up with a system so I can get in and out and look great! Here are the time saving systems I have in place that I think you could easily put to use in your bathroom as well. Lets face it, if you can’t find your brush, you can’t brush your hair. Do you find yourself fighting your blow dryer cord every time you drag it out from under your sink or drawer to use it? I know your answer.
I bought a blow dryer stand that holds my dryer. Now I am able to always keep it out on my counter, yet out of the way. No more cord battles. I bought a similar holder for my flat iron . It suction cups to my mirror. I use both tools almost everyday and they are now easily accessible. A universal stand is also made that has received great reviews online.
I use my drawer to hold my brush, a bag of cloth headbands & the diffuser attachment.
I went to the dollar store and bought a small tackle box. I have bobby pins(black & gold), single prong clips (to set curls), large duckbill clips(for sectioning hair to blow dry), small plastic hair bands(clear & black) & cloth hair bands. I LOVE this little box. It is small enough not to take up too much space, yet separates all the bits and pieces I need to create a style. At Target in the bathroom organizing section I bought a clear plastic organizer that sticks anywhere and I stuck it to my mirror to hold my combs. Done. That easy. Evaluate your current situation. Figure out what you use everyday and make it more accessible. Try my easy solutions and give you bathroom a makeover.
If you lack counter space and struggle doing your hair while avoiding the sink faucet try this trick that came from my sis Michaela- Buy a plastic cutting board large enough to cover your sink. Keep it on the side of the cabinet and put it over the sink to create more counter space when you style your hair. Brilliant! Thanks sis!
I always challenge myself to try new styles & have the time in the morning now that I am not searching for my hair stuff at the bottom of a drawer! Now it is your turn….
