Hi Everyone!  I was on the end of my couch last night cheering on my choice pick to win (from episode one), Mckey as she WON America’s Next Top Model = ANTM for you diehards!!  I write this not to gloat about my ability to pick the winner, but the fact that the last two finalists, Mckey & Samantha had SHORT SHORT hair.  Hello!  How rad is that??!!  2009 will be a ‘new dawn’ for short hair.  Who really has the time to detangle, brush and blow long lengths into something that after an hour resembles a lot of nothing.  That is unless you are sporting a mane of curls, but that is another blog..  I must stop for a second and give a shout out to my long haired clients, I love you all, your hair and the time we share maintaining its health & keeping your style modern, but for all the others who haven’t figured out how to do that yet, CUT THE SLACK!!! Here are my tips to get the best results when visiting your stylist with a new short haircut on the brain…

1.  Bring a picture of what you love & a picture of what you hate.  As stylists, knowing what you DO NOT want is key for us.

2.  Make sure have a conversation with your stylist while your hair is still dry.  If they are too busy to discuss it with you prior to your shampoo, RED FLAG!  Hair is much different when it is wet. 

3.  Ask questions. If the stylist glances at your picture and says ok without offering up advice, be weary.   A stylist without ideas is like a chef without a kitchen.  Bad news bears.

4.  Be prepared to not recognize yourself in the morning, yet be so excited when the amount of hair products you use dramatically decreases and your hair finally becomes low maintenance.

5.  If your boyfriend tells you not to cut your hair……….simply replace him.

6.  If you have over a foot to chop, donate your hair to Locks of Love .

  Be fearless!  Hair grows back , but more than likely it will be something you will love and keep for a while.   Headbands and hair accessories look fab with short styles.  Have fun!  Short is sexy!!!! 

P.S. Christina Aguilera, you are not off my hook yet.  Sweetie, we need to discuss your hair.  Next week!
